Official Services

These are the services we offer to users of KCRL.

Internal Network Services

We use WireGuard as our primary means for client access. In order to use this, you will need the wireguard package available for your platform. Modern Linux kernels have WireGuard support out of the box, and you just need a userland toolset installed to control those facilities. Check with your distribution documentation for specific instructions on how to install and configure your WireGuard interface. When in doubt, a Google search for WireGuard and your OS choice will provide results, many from the official WireGuard website.

We have a Triton Datacenter powered cloud available for users. In order to get setup for access, you will be required to communicate to an admin an RSA ssh key. If you don’t already have one, one can be generated using the following command:

ssh-keygen -b 4096 -t rsa

Do not add a password to this key, as the triton cli does not support password protected ssh keys.

Once you have your ssh key setup and the public half transmitted to an admin, you can get the triton-cli installed. If you don’t already have it, install node.js and npm on your platform, then to install triton-cli:

npm -g install triton

If you get a permssions issue, add sudo to the beginning of the command, so it looks like sudo npm -g install triton.

After that, get your profile setup. Here’s an example session:

$ triton profile create
A profile name. A short string to identify this profile to the `triton` command.
name: kcrl-den01

The CloudAPI endpoint URL.

Your account login name.
account: exampleuser

The fingerprint of the SSH key you want to use to authenticate with CloudAPI.
Specify the fingerprint or the index of one of the found keys in the list
below. If the key you want to use is not listed, make sure it is either saved
in your SSH keys directory (~/.ssh) or loaded into your SSH agent.

1. Fingerprint "00:11:22:33:44:55:66:77:88:99:aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff" (4096-bit RSA)
   - in homedir: $HOME/.ssh/id_rsa (comment "exampleuser@examplehost")

keyId: 1

Saved profile "kcrl-den01".

This will be set as the default profile, since it should be your only profile at this point. To test it, run triton info. You should recieve a message like:

$ triton info
login: exampleuser
name: Example User
totalDisk: 0 GiB
totalMemory: 0 GiB
instances: 0
    running: 0
    stopped: 0

The triton cli is fairly self-documenting, simply issue help wherever needed and it will give you as much information as it can. Detailed cloudapi documentation can be found here.
